Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Fly to Paro from Kathmandu, drive to Thimpu- Overnight in Thimpu
After breakfast: proceed to airport for flight to Bhutan – Paro.

Day 02: Thimphu / Paro- Overnight in Paro

Day 03: Paro 
After breakfast: drive to the foot of the Taktshang Monastery or Tiger’s Nest cliff before walking uphill for 2 hours to reach this monastery.  
The 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang was one of the 108 temples built in the Himalayas by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gembo. It is revered as one of the most holy shrines in Bhutan and embodies the arrival of Buddhism here. Overnight at a hotel in Paro.

Day 04: Fly to Kathmandu from Paro 
After breakfast: You will drive to the Airport to make fly to Kathmandu.

Detail Itenerary


After breakfast in Kathmandu, you will board Drukair and fly into Bhutan. The flight to Paro is one of the most spectacular trips in the entire Himalayas, which offers astounding views of the mountains, green vegetation, and meandering rivers. On arrival at Paro airport and completing all the immigration formalities, you will be met by a representative of AID Jounrneys & Adventure who will lead your drive towards Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. You will stop briefly at Chuzom, the confluence of Thimphu and Paro rivers. This confluence is adorned by three different styles of stupas: Tibetan, Nepalese and Bhutanese. After arrival in Thimphu, you will be transferred to your hotel where you may rest for a while. Later, you will visit some significant landmarks of Thimphu including Tashicho Dzong, the impressive fortress, and the Memorial Chorten, a prominent sight in the city with golden spires and bells. This stupa is popularly known as the most visible religious landmark in Bhutan that was built to honor the third Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Also, visit the Local Crafts Bazaar where you may explore through Bhutan’s fine traditional arts. Overnight in Thimphu.

After breakfast today, you will embark on a sightseeing spree in Thimphu. Today’s attractions include a visit to National Library, a treasure trove of priceless Buddhist manuscripts, and the Traditional Medicine Institute where ancient healing arts like acupuncture and herbal remedies are still practiced. You will also visit the Painting School where young monks are taught the art of Buddhist thangkas. You will then visit the Motithang Takin Preserve (originally, the mini zoo), a wildlife reserve area for takin, the national animal of Bhutan. Before driving to Paro, you will visit Kuensel Phodrang, also known as the Buddha point – from where you get a fantastic overview of the Thimphu valley. Here lies the largest statue of Buddha in Bhutan, where you may offer prayers, walk around and savor the magnificent views. On arrival at Paro, you will be transferred to your hotel where you will stretch your legs and relax. Overnight in Paro.

After a hefty breakfast, you will drive to the starting point of a fascinating hike to Taktshang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest. Taktshang is one of the most popular monasteries of Bhutan, and it is perched on a side of a cliff 800 meters above the Paro valley. Returning back after the fabulous hike en route your hotel, you will visit Kyichu Lhakhang; the Jowo Temple built by the Tibetan Emperor during the 7 th century and is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. In the afternoon, you will visit Ta Dzong, the national museum that houses an extensive collection of antique thangka paintings, textiles, weapons & armor, household objects and a rich assortment of natural and historic artifacts. You will then engage in a short walk to visit Rinpung Dzong, better known as the Paro Dzong, the fortress of the heap of jewels. In the evening, you may take a stroll around Paro main streets, visit shops and local markets. Overnight in Paro.
